"Yellow" Chicken Rice - Great Recipe Comes with Innovation

Hi guys. Really sorry for this blog for being dormant for almost half a year. Too many stuffs came by and I need to basically handle those things. Poor me, but hey!! At least I'm still here, still not being soulless and still being hired in one of the amazing company in Singapore. So yeah, lots of things to be grateful on.

These days, I picked on another hobby of cooking food. Lately kinda feeling quite bored with foods around here, and then I was thinking "hey, why not trying to create one?" and thus I started on trying. Lots of ups and downs, I need to say, but at last I'm glad I can be successful in creating at least 1 dish that I am really proud of. And for that one dish, I think I would like to share with you about the food, and also the recipe and the procedure of making one. The dish is basically Hainanese Chicken Rice, but after cooking, seems like I put on quite much more ginger than usual that it turned out yellow, so I named it "Yellow Chicken Rice"

First of all, I would like to give credit to Heinz for this amazing recipe, though I modified it a little bit considering that I have rice cooker at home..

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 300-400 ml of chicken broth
  • 200 grams (or around 300ml) of rice
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger, minced
  • 1.5-2.5 tablespoons of oil
  • 3-4 pieces of bay leaves
Utensils:
  • Spatula
  • Small Pan
  • Rice Cooker
Method:
  1. Rinse and clean the rice, and then drain it, leaving rice with as minimum water as possible
  2. Heat the oil in the small pan with the low heat
  3. Put minced garlic and minced ginger into the pan, and then sauté it until you can smell the fragrance of the condiments
  4. Put the drained rice into the pan, then mix it with spatula until the sautéed condiments are mixed well with rice
  5. After that, put the rice inside the rice cooker. Instead of using water, pour chicken broth into the rice cooker as well. (for the exact amount of broth, I used my finger to measure that, until first joint)
  6. Clean all the bay leaves, and then put it in the rice cooker
  7. Press cook button and wait until it's entirely cooked
The result is quite amazing, I really like it :D this food can be eaten together with so many things, and for now, I used fried egg for that. Here is the photo

I actually have made lots of other foods, but I can say this is the best one I have ever made :D really wish that my other foods will be as good as this one, or even more hahah.

About IMO 2020 Problem 1 (Geometry)

It has been 1 month since the biggest Mathematics Olympiad in the world, named IMO (International Mathematics Olympiad) has been held virtually (due to COVID-19, of course) from 19th to 28th September 2020. This year, Russia acted as the organising country for this prestigious event for high schoolers all around the world. Frankly speaking, whenever this moment comes in each year, I always take a moment to be quite nostalgic about the last time I participated in this very same olympiad (which is actually 7 and 8 years ago. Yes, I participated twice in this olympiad). For some background, the format of this competition is that each participant needs to tackle 6 problems, divided into 2 days (so each day has 3 problems, and the problems are sorted based on difficulties for each day). Therefore, problem 1 and 4 are always the easiest in each day, followed by problem 2 and 5, and lastly the most difficult problems for each day are problem 3 and 6. For this year, I took some interest in the...

Work From Home - How It's Actually Like

Hi guys! So after such a long hiatus from this blog (I actually targeted this blog to have a new content at least once per month, but something came up and that resulted in around 2 months of being away from this), I am finally back :D Finding some spare time to even take a look at this blog seems quite too much for me these days, now with the current pandemic that led me (and also most of people in this country) to serve Work From Home (WFH), meaning that I need to do my usual work from home instead of going to office every weekdays. This really made me struggling quite hard in keeping up with things, especially adaptation. Yes, I am not really the type of person who likes to mix my professional life with my personal life (one of which is manifested through only do what matters about work in my office and leave it immediately out of my mind when I arrive at home), but the current circumstances force me to, somehow, get rid of those separation and be well with it. So that's why, ...
